ABOUT ZAMBIA SUGAR PLC
Zambia Sugar Plc. is an ABF Group sugar company and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.
The company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill this position under the Manufacturing Department.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
This position reports to the Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering Manager. The successful incumbent will be responsible for supporting factory operations by ensuring a safe, consistent power supply and ensuring adequate life cycle management of instrumentation systems.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Manage documentation of Instrumentation maintenance and repair activities, equipment history, and maintenance schedules.
Optimize maintenance operations, using best available tools and procedures to maximize equipment availability.
Ensure proper day-to-day scheduling of works and necessary resources. Assign and review work to perform with the craftsmen.
Ensure completion of major operations within schedule (yearly overhaul).
Participate in the 5-year investment plan, promote the quality of the work, motivate personnel, facilitate communication and relationships through regular department meetings and reports to the hierarchy.
Ensure DCS systems are in safe environments, temperature controlled and optimal.
Ensure others using the DCS systems are observing safe behaviors, following the change log process and manage user and operator rights.
Protect the PI Historian and DCS systems from malware by making sure that the anti-virus is always up to date.
Provide day-to-day troubleshooting on DCS and PI Historian systems.
Manage DCS life-cycle and ensure hardware and software sustainability.
Execute planned and scheduled work efficiently and effectively and to ABF quality standards. Ensure DCS Risk Audit requirements are managed.
Develop PCS7 DCS and PI historian programs and install hardware and software.
Plan and perform system maintenance and administration activities.
Carry out program read back and back-ups as per ABF standard.
Ensure all control loops are tuned and optimized to achieve optimum functionality.
Ensure control loop drawings are up to date and operation manuals for systems equipment are kept safe, up to date and available all the time.
Work with Optimization, Maintenance and Process teams to solve problems and promote cross-functional engagement & teamwork.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Full Grade 12 Certificate.
Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Preferably 5 years’ experience in field instrumentation and PCS7 systems, electricity supply and maintenance, with knowledge of Control & Instrumentation.
Familiarity with ABF systems will be an advantage (SAP).
Proven track record with equivalent Control & Instrumentation infrastructure maintenance and improvement management.
Employee and contractor management experience and track record.
Continuous improvement knowledge and experience.
Suitably qualified applicants must provide certificates which have been verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
