Background
The Alliance for Children Everywhere Zambia (ACEZ), through its Education Support at Jana Christian School, is seeking a courteous, reliable, and service-oriented individual to join its school support team as an Indoor Work Support (Front Desk, Stores & Administrative Support). Jana Christian School serves vulnerable children from Kanyama’s ultra-poor communities, providing a safe, nurturing, and learner-centred environment rooted in Christian values of dignity, compassion, and integrity.
Role Summary
This role is essential to ensuring smooth daily operations within the school by supporting front-desk reception, stores handling, and indoor administrative functions. The ideal candidate is someone who is well-mannered, organized, and able to work with minimal supervision while maintaining professionalism around learners, staff, parents, and visitors. A strong sense of responsibility, respect for children, and commitment to upholding ACE Zambia’s safeguarding standards are critical for success in this role.
The Indoor General Worker will be stationed at the school and will work closely with the Deputy Head Teacher to ensure that school spaces remain welcoming, orderly, and supportive of effective learning and teaching.
Job Purpose
To provide professional front-desk support, assist with the movement and basic record-keeping of school stores and supplies, support meeting and administrative activities, and ensure a clean, orderly, and welcoming indoor environment that enhances efficient school operations for learners, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
Minimum level of academic qualifications required to perform effectively in the role
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Not less than one (1) year working experience. Experience in reception, stores support, or general administrative work is an added advantage.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills.

- Must uphold ACE Zambia’s child safeguarding practices at all times.
- Serve as the primary front-desk attendant during working hours: welcome visitors, verify purpose of visit, and notify relevant staff of arrivals.
- Maintain a visitor register and ensure accurate documentation of all visitors entering the school.
- Answer phone calls courteously, direct enquiries to the appropriate staff, and record messages when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and welcoming reception area.
- Assist with receiving delivered school supplies, including checking, signing, and moving items to designated storage areas under supervision.
- Support stock handling: labelling, safe stacking, issuing items, and maintaining basic store logs (receipt/issue forms).
- Participate in periodic stock counts and report discrepancies to the Deputy Head Teacher or HQ’s Administrative Officer.
- Support movement of school materials between storage areas, classrooms, offices, and meeting spaces.
- Prepare and set up rooms for meetings, teacher training sessions, parent meetings, or school events (chairs, tables, water/tea).
- Assist with simple administrative tasks, such as photocopying, internal mail distribution, and delivery of communication to classrooms.
- Ensure meeting rooms and shared indoor spaces are kept neat and in order.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in school indoor spaces including corridors, reception, staff rooms, and meeting rooms.
- Handle school records, visitor details, and other information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Observe and comply with child safeguarding and protection procedures at all times; report concerns immediately.
- Perform any other related duties assigned by the Deputy Head Teacher.
