Eastern Tropical Fruit Company Limited (ETF) is jointly owned by Zambia Fruit Company and Vitaplus Foods Limited, under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant located in Katete District, Eastern Province of Zambia.

Role Overview:

The Injection Mould Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the injection moulding machines used to produce plastic components, such as bottle caps or containers. This role ensures the moulding process is efficient, products meet quality specifications, and all safety procedures are followed.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate injection moulding machines according to production schedules and specifications.
  • Install and secure moulds, configure machine parameters, and ensure proper startup procedures.
  • Monitor machine cycles and adjust settings to optimize performance and product quality.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of moulded parts to ensure conformity with specifications.
  • Record inspection results and maintain compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Diagnose machine faults or process issues and implement corrective actions or escalate to maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain accurate production logs, including machine run time, output volumes, and downtime events.
  • Ensure traceability of batches and compliance with all documentation requirements.
  • Communicate daily performance and issues to supervisors or team leads.
  • Adhere to company safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
  • Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly in line with safety protocols.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with environmental and occupational safety regulations.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) O Levels.
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience operating injection moulding machines in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Basic understanding of quality control practices related to moulded products, including visual and dimensional inspection.
  • Membership with a recognized professional regulatory body (e.g., Engineering Institution of Zambia – EIZ)
  • Knowledge of plastic materials and the injection moulding process is a distinct advantage.
