Background information about the job or company
To support the design, assessment and continuous improvement of internal control frameworks across ZCCM-IH and its subsidiaries (Group), ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and group policies, identifying and mitigating operational and financial risks and driving process improvements that strengthen the group’s overall control environment.
Responsibilities or duties
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and update the Group's internal control register, ensuring all key controls are documented, assigned, and tested. This includes end-to-end process mapping and evaluating both the design adequacy and operating effectiveness of controls across finance, treasury, investments, procurement, and operations.
- Conduct control assessments through walkthroughs, interviews with process owners, sample testing, and documentation reviews, covering both entity level and process level controls at the Company and across subsidiary companies. Assessments shall include controls over financial reporting (ICOFR) and shall be carried out on a periodic basis in accordance with the Group's internal control testing schedule.
- Document assessment findings in structured reports detailing deficiency severity, root cause, and remediation recommendations. Escalate control gaps to process owners and line management and monitor agreed remediation actions through to closure.
- Identify control gaps, weaknesses, and inefficiencies across financial and operational processes, including ICOFR frameworks and work with process owners to design practical improvements. Prepare clear control assessment reports with actionable remediation recommendations and track implementation progress.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation across the Group and liaise with the subsidiary oversight team to ensure consistent application of Group-wide compliance and internal control standards.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications or requirements
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Minimum level of academic qualifications required to perform effectively in the role
- Grade Twelve or Equivalent with Credits or Better in Five (5) Subjects, including Mathematics and English.
- Full professional qualification in ACCA.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Relevant Professional Membership.

Experience needed
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum number of months or years of experience the job holder is required to have to be appointed to the position
- Not less than 3 years of work experience in Finance, internal audit, risk and compliance, or internal controls in a corporate or investment holding environment.
