About the Role – Junior Quantity Surveyor Jobs in Solwezi

Reporting to the Contract Manager, the Junior Quantity Surveyor will provide essential support to the Quantity Surveyor and project team. Your role will involve monitoring project costs, preparing measurements, maintaining accurate cost records, and assisting with contract administration to ensure effective financial control across various projects. This position is full-time and based on-site in Solwezi.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and project cost forecasts.
  • Conduct site measurements and quantity take-offs for completed works.
  • Support the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs), pricing schedules, and tender documents.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and scope of works to ensure accurate costing.
  • Assist in preparing interim payment applications and progress valuations.
  • Verify quantities of work completed on site for payment certification.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of project costs, variations, and claims.
  • Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Support evaluation and preparation of variation orders and additional works.
  • Assist in reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Prepare cost reports and provide updates to the Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager.
  • Assist with contract administration and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Support site teams with measurement and cost-related queries.
  • Compile project reports, records, and documentation for audits.
  • Participate in site inspections and progress meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual requirements, and health and safety standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Membership or progress towards professional registration with the Zambia Institute of Quantity Surveyors (ZIQS) is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in quantity surveying or construction-related roles.
  • Experience within mining, earthworks, road construction, or heavy equipment operations is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of BOQs, measurements, cost control, and contract documentation.
