To lead, coordinate, and supervise the day-to-day activities of the electrical teams focused on power distribution, lighting, and earthing system installation and maintenance. The Lead Supervisor ensures that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, electrical standards (SANS, NBCEI, IEC), and quality requirements. This role supports the Superintendent by driving operational excellence on site and mentoring team members.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and allocate daily tasks to electricians and semi-skilled personnel involved in power, lighting, and earthing installations.
Ensure all electrical work complies with project drawings, technical specifications, and applicable electrical codes and standards (SANS, NBCEI, IEC).
Monitor work progress, quality, and safety adherence, reporting daily to the Superintendent.
Assist in coordinating materials, tools, and equipment to optimize team productivity and prevent delays.
Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of power distribution, lighting, and earthing systems.
Enforce strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, including conducting toolbox talks and risk assessments.
Mentor and guide junior staff and semi-skilled workers, fostering skill development and adherence to best practices.
Collaborate closely with other site supervisors, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Document work progress, complete daily reports, and escalate issues or non-conformances to the Superintendent for resolution.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by enforcing housekeeping standards and proper tool usage.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certification:

South African Red Seal Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Section 13 or 26D) or equivalent.
Eligible or registered with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) preferred.
Valid passport and eligibility for Zambian Class A Work Permit and Temporary Employment Permit (TEP).
Experience:

Minimum 5 years of electrical experience in industrial, mining, or heavy infrastructure projects.
At least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
Practical knowledge of power distribution, lighting, and earthing systems installation and testing.
Familiarity with SANS 10142-1, IEC standards, and Zambian electrical safety regulations.
Experience with commissioning and troubleshooting electrical systems is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership and team management skills.
Solid understanding of electrical power, lighting, and earthing systems.
Good communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and site reporting tools.

Working Conditions

Remote site-based role with exposure to harsh environmental conditions.
Must comply with all PPE and site safety protocols.
May involve overtime, shift work, and physically demanding tasks.
