POSITION SUMMARY
Zera International College of Health Sciences invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced and licensed professionals for the position of Lecturer in Clinical Medicine.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, assessing and supporting students in the following subject areas:
- Public Health;
- Health Systems Management;
- Entrepreneurship;
- Community Health;
- Health Promotion;
- Primary Health Care;
- Health Policy and Planning; and
- Other related Clinical Medicine courses as assigned by the Head of Department.
The lecturer will be expected to promote academic excellence, professional conduct, practical competence, research, innovation and adherence to applicable regulatory and institutional standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess the following:
- A ZAQA-verified Degree in Clinical Medicine from a recognised institution.
- A valid and current Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) practising licence.
- A minimum of two to four years’ experience in health sciences teaching, clinical training or professional healthcare practice.
- Evidence of competence in teaching Public Health, Health Systems Management and Entrepreneurship.
- A Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.
- Strong communication, presentation, classroom management and student assessment skills.
- Good computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office, electronic learning platforms and digital teaching resources.
A Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Systems Management, Health Services Management, Health Economics or a closely related field will be an added advantage.
Previous experience teaching in a college, university or other recognised health training institution will also be an added advantage.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Lecturer will be responsible for:
Teaching and Learning
- Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, seminars and practical sessions.
- Teaching Public Health, Health Systems Management, Entrepreneurship and other assigned Clinical Medicine courses.
- Developing lesson plans, course outlines, schemes of work, teaching notes and learning materials.
- Ensuring that teaching content is aligned with the approved curriculum and applicable professional standards.
- Using appropriate teaching methods to support students with different learning needs.
- Integrating practical examples, case studies, community health issues and current health-system challenges into classroom teaching.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
The successful applicant must demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of public health and healthcare delivery systems;
- Ability to teach health systems management and entrepreneurship;
- Effective classroom and student-management skills;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to prepare quality teaching and assessment materials;
- Accuracy in academic record keeping;
- Ability to work under deadlines;
- Strong ethical and professional conduct;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; and
- Commitment to student development and institutional quality standards.
