Location:                    UP Zambia Office, Lusaka

Duration:                    7 months

Duties

  • Conduct research on legal issues related to human trafficking, including case law, statutes, and regulations.
  • Assist in drafting legal documents, including motions, briefs, and correspondence.
  • Organize and maintain legal files, evidence, and case materials.
  • Support the legal team in managing case files and tracking case progress.
  • Prepare and file legal documents with courts and administrative agencies.
  • Coordinate with clients, experts, and other stakeholders to gather information and documents.
  • Schedule meetings, hearings, and appointments for the legal team.
  • Manage and prioritize a high volume of tasks and deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Provide empathetic and respectful support to survivors and clients, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Assist in preparing clients for legal proceedings and interviews.
  • Facilitate communication between clients and the legal team.
  • Assist with the coordination of project activities, including outreach, training, and awareness events.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to support project goals.

Key Requirements & Attributes

  • Undergraduate degree in law from a recognised institution. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong research and report writing skills.
  • Excellent listening and analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of legal principles and terminology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work under limited supervision.
  • Strong commitment to social justice.
