JOB DETAILS:
The Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA), a statutory body under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, is inviting applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates to fill the vacant position of the Legal Officer. The requirements are stipulated as contained below: Position: LEGAL OFFICER
Purpose of the Job:
To undertake the provision of legal and board secretarial services in order to ensure compliance to the law. .

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)
Litigation
• Undertake effectively litigation of cases against the Agency in order to protect the interests of the Agency.
Evidence
• Undertake effectively capacity building for evidence collection and the review of intention to prosecute documentation in order to facilitate prosecution.
Legal Advice
• Undertake effectively the provision of legal advice to the Board and Management of the Agency in order to facilitate adherence to the law
Contracts and Legal Documentation
• Undertake effectively the drafting and review of business contracts and other legal documents in order to safe guard the interest of the Agency.
Secretariat Services
• Undertake the provision of secretariat services to the board in order to ensure smooth conduct of business.
Review of Draft Regulations
• Undertake effectively the review of draft regulations in order to ensure their quality and conformity to statutes

QUALIFICATIONS
• Full Form V/Grade 12 Certificate
• Minimum of a Bachelor of Laws Degree
• Valid Practicing certificate
• Ability to write comprehensive technical reports, legal opinions and legal drafting.
• Fluency in official language
