The International School of Lusaka invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Lifeguard/Swim Coach. The successful candidate will ensure student safety, enforce water safety procedures, and provide effective swimming instruction and coaching to students of different ages and ability levels.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise swimming activities and ensure compliance with all pool rules, safety procedures and emergency protocols.
- Rescue swimmers in distress and administer First Aid and CPR when required.
- Assess pool and water conditions and respond promptly to potential hazards.
- Teach and coach swimmers from beginner to advanced levels.
- Support the organisation of swimming galas, competitions and other aquatic activities.
- Inspect and maintain pool-safety equipment.
- Assist with pool operations, including water testing, record-keeping, equipment inventories and the cleanliness of the pool area.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and pool safety checks.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and other members of the school community.
- Assist with Physical Education activities during the swimming off-season, as required.
Qualifications and experience:
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or a related field.
- At least two years of relevant lifeguarding or swimming-coaching experience.
- A recognised and valid lifeguard qualification.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Strong swimming, water-rescue and emergency-response skills.
- Experience coaching swimmers across different ages and ability levels.
- Strong communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to student safety and safeguarding.
- The flexibility to work occasional extended hours, weekends or public holidays when required.
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese would be an added advantage.
