Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Loan Officer to support lending operations, client acquisition, portfolio management, and debt recovery activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in growing the loan book, managing customer relationships, conducting field assessments of potential MOU companies, and ensuring effective collections.

This is a field-intensive role requiring discipline, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to sales and credit management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Loan Origination & Client Acquisition

  • Identify and recruit new clients for loan products
  • Market and promote company lending products and services
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Conduct regular field visits and customer engagement activities

2. Field Assessments & MOU Company Evaluations

  • Conduct field assessments of potential MOU companies and employers
  • Verify business legitimacy, operations, and employee structures
  • Assess risk profile and suitability for partnership agreements
  • Prepare structured assessment reports with recommendations
  • Maintain proper documentation of all field visits and findings

3. Loan Processing & Credit Assessment

  • Assist clients with loan applications and required documentation
  • Conduct preliminary affordability and credit assessments
  • Verify client information and repayment capacity
  • Ensure completeness of loan files before submission for approval

4. Portfolio Monitoring & Collections

  • Monitor repayment performance and loan portfolio quality
  • Follow up on overdue accounts via calls and field visits
  • Conduct professional debt recovery and collections activities
  • Negotiate repayment plans with delinquent clients
  • Maintain low arrears and strong portfolio health

5. Customer Service & Relationship Management

  • Provide ongoing client support and guidance
  • Handle client queries and complaints professionally
  • Educate clients on loan terms, obligations, and repayment discipline

6. Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of field activities and client interactions
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports
  • Ensure confidentiality and proper filing of customer information

7. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Adhere to all company lending policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with KYC and documentation standards
  • Identify and report suspicious or fraudulent activities

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Diploma or Certificate in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field is an added advantage

Experience

  • Experience in sales, collections, customer service, or microfinance is an advantage
  • Recent graduates with strong drive and discipline are encouraged to apply
