MAINTENANCE ENGINEER – PETROLEUM & PROPERTY

We are a leading petroleum marketing and logistics company with operations across depots, retail filling stations, bulk installations, and commercial properties. We are seeking for a Maintenance Engineer to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our petroleum infrastructure and company-owned properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of petroleum infrastructure including storage tanks, pipelines, pumps, valves, fuel dispensers, ATGs, compressors, generators, and electrical panels.
  • Maintain and test fire-fighting systems such as hydrants, sprinklers, foam systems, fire pumps, extinguishers, emergency shut-off systems, and fire alarms.
  • Inspect and maintain earthing, bonding, and lightning protection systems at depots, filling stations, and bulk installations.
  • Ensure calibration, certification, and statutory inspection of fuel dispensers, meters, tanks, pressure vessels, and safety equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify leaks, corrosion, structural defects, vibration, abnormal noise, or electrical faults.
  • Plan and implement shutdown maintenance and major overhauls for critical equipment.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, emergencies, spills, or safety incidents and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Supervise technicians and contractors on-site, ensuring adherence to safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and quality standards.
  • Manage maintenance of company properties including buildings, roofs, civil structures, drainage, plumbing, electrical wiring, HVAC systems, and water systems.
  • Maintain utilities such as power supply, backup generators, solar systems (if any), water supply, boreholes, and sewer systems.
  • Prepare and manage preventive maintenance schedules, checklists, job cards, and maintenance histories.
  • Control spare parts and critical spares inventory; identify obsolescence risks and recommend replacements.
  • Support installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of new petroleum facilities, station upgrades, and refurbishments.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards, environmental requirements, petroleum regulations, and insurance risk requirements.
  • Participate in audits, regulatory inspections, insurance surveys, and emergency response drills.
  • Track maintenance costs, analyze trends, and recommend cost-optimization and asset life-extension initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, drawings, manuals, and statutory documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in petroleum operations, depots, filling stations, or similar industrial environments.
  • Proven experience in property and facilities maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of petroleum safety systems, HSE practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot under pressure and respond to emergencies.
  • Professional engineering registration will be an added advantage.
