Job Description

We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Livingstone, Zambia. In this role, you will oversee all maintenance operations, lead a team of maintenance technicians, and ensure that all facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standards of safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, technical expertise, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of maintenance staff, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime and extend asset lifespan
  • Inspect facilities, equipment, and systems regularly to identify maintenance needs and potential safety hazards
  • Prioritize and schedule maintenance work, allocating resources effectively to meet operational demands
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with internal staff or external contractors
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment performance
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and company policies
  • Train and mentor maintenance team members on proper procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation
  • Manage maintenance budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations and coordinate immediate corrective actions
  • Communicate with management regarding maintenance status, resource needs, and facility conditions
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors, ensuring quality service delivery and competitive pricing
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to maintenance efficiency, equipment reliability, and team productivity
  • Identify and implement sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency improvements to reduce operational costs and environmental impact
  • Coordinate with other departments to align maintenance activities with organizational objectives and minimize disruption to operations

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in maintenance operations or facilities management
  • Proven supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance procedures, equipment systems, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Proficiency in time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions
  • Familiarity with maintenance scheduling software and computerized systems
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards
  • Ability to work independently and make decisive decisions
  • Physical capability to perform maintenance tasks and inspect facilities
  • Preferred: Technical certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related fields
  • Preferred: Experience with budget management and cost control
  • Preferred: Training and development experience with maintenance teams
