Job description:
Purpose
To supervise Scaffolders to ensure that scaffolding functions are executed diligently according to instructions and prescribed standards ensuring that optimum equipment availability and reliability is realized.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection of scaffolding materials for corrosion and rust.
- Erecting and dismantling access scaffolding.
- Endorsement of erected scaffolding for safe use/safe work loads.
- Inspection of erected scaffolding after every 7 days.
- Removal of scaffolding materials after completion of work for safe stacking…
- Basic rigging knowledge (slinging, signaling & basic lift supervising- i.e. scaffold bundles etc.)
- Identification of all scaffolding materials.
- Risk assessment of scaffolding requirement to be erected.
- Other duties as instructed by the Supervisor related to the above work.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a full Grade Twelve (Grade 12) certificate
- Scaffolding certificate from recognized institution
- Practical first aid certificate / silicosis.
- A member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
Expereince
- Minimum experience 5 years
- Previous work experience in a large copper mining operation process plant will be advantageous.

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function. Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threads and benders. Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints. Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment. Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods. Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading. Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints. Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications. Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications. Cut and bore holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation, using hand and power tools. Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools Provide training and development opportunities for all direct reports on an ongoing basis, with a particular focus on Zambian employees Other duties as instructed by the Supervisor
