Background

Kamimbi Aqua Feed Limited invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Mechanical Artisan (Fitter) and Electrician. The role will be based at the Kamimbi Aqua Feed Siavonga factory with occasional operations in the Lusaka Office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect, service, maintain, and repair feed mill machinery, including conveyors, bucket elevators, mixers, pellet mills, hammer mills, augers, gearboxes, pumps, and compressors.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out timely repairs to minimise production downtime.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Install, align, assemble, and commission mechanical equipment and components.
  • Replace worn or defective mechanical parts, including bearings, shafts, chains, belts, seals, and couplings.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and report defects or potential failures.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), and maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with production and other maintenance personnel to maximise equipment reliability and plant availability.

QUALIFICATION AND KEY ATTRIBUTES:

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate (GCE).
  • Minimum of a Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical Fitting or an equivalent mechanical trade qualification.
  • At least 2+ years’ experience in Mechanical Maintenance of fixed plant equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of rotating equipment, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency in equipment alignment, mechanical assembly, fault diagnosis, and precision measurements.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
  • Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills are an added advantage.
  • Computer literacy and experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
