Purpose of the Role

To oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operational activities within the assigned area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with company safety standards, policies, and ethical principles while driving continuous improvement in productivity, efficiency, and cost control. The role also supports the Production Coordinator in achieving operational, safety, and production objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all hauling operations, ensuring full compliance with mining legislation, explosives regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Ensure the daily operational plan is executed safely, efficiently, and within the required timeframes and performance standards.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual production and development activities to achieve operational objectives.
  • Deliver development and production targets in line with approved budgets, business plans, and operational requirements.
  • Optimize the allocation and utilization of personnel, mobile equipment, and other resources to maximize productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Promote and maintain discipline, accountability, and high-performance standards to foster a safe and productive work environment.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members to enhance competency levels and support succession planning initiatives.
  • Oversee the operation of all hauling fleets, crushers, and in-pit stockpile activities to ensure safe and efficient material movement.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with equipment logbook requirements, ensuring accurate and complete operational records.
  • Contribute effectively to team performance and support the achievement of departmental and site production goals.
  • Ensure operational controls, procedures, and standards are implemented and maintained across all equipment and activities to achieve compliance with mine plans and performance expectations.
  • Identify operational risks and implement appropriate corrective actions to maintain safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Production Coordinator in support of operational requirements.

Qualifications

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or related field
  • Valid Blasting License issued by the relevant Zambian regulatory authority.
  • Valid Explosives Handling Certificate.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate is an advantage.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • All academic qualifications must be verified and validated by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).

  • Strong knowledge of truck fleet utilization and equipment optimization.
  • Effective workforce planning, scheduling, and coordination skills.
  • Good understanding of mining production equipment and basic condition monitoring principles.
  • Sound knowledge of mine and haul road geometry.
