Position: Modern Trade Supervisor (MTS001)

Business: Seba Foods Zambia Limited

Reports to: Modern Trade Manager

Job purpose

The Modern Trade Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and driving sales performance within the modern trade channel across designated region. This includes supervising the modern trade sales and merchandising teams, ensuring excellent in-store execution, maintaining strong relationships with key retail partners, and achieving volume, visibility, and distribution objectives. The role plays a key part in ensuring that Seba Foods’ products are well represented, well displayed, and consistently available in all assigned modern trade outlets.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the Modern Trade sales team to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Ensure effective execution of sales and merchandising activities across key supermarket chains and retail outlets.
  • Monitor product availability, pricing, and display standards in line with company objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with store managers, category buyers, and key account representatives.
  • Implement and monitor trade promotions, activations, and visibility programs in collaboration with the Trade Marketing team.
  • Analyse sales reports, market trends, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Ensure accurate reporting, timely order processing, and proper stock management within outlets.
  • Conduct regular field visits and team coaching to maintain performance standards.
  • Enforce company policies, sales discipline, and ethical business practices within the team.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

  • General Certificate of Education (GCE) – Examination Council of Zambia
  • Professional Qualification in Marketing
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Modern Trade Sales or Key Account Supervision within FMCG.
  • Strong understanding of modern retail operations, merchandising principles, and sales reporting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and sales performance tracking tools.
