Nanga Farms Limited is a large, irrigated sugarcane estate situated 25km. Northeast of Mazabuka in the Southern Province of Zambia. The Company is part of the ABF Sugar Group, and its main activities are the cultivation of 2,860 hectares of sugarcane and the rearing of 1,400 head of cattle. Occupational Health Nurse x1 - (C3)
Permanent Role Reporting to –Clinical Officer
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identifying and assessing the risks of health hazards in the workplace
- Monitor patient s condition and assess their needs to provide the best possible care and advice, including referrals for further Management.
- Observe and interpret patients s symptoms and communicate them to clinicians.
- Collaborate with physicians and fellow nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients.
- Perform Routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc and fill in patients' charts.
- Adjust and administer patients s medication and provide treatments according to physician s orders.
- Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, preparing beds etc.
- Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families
- Expand knowledge and capabilities by attending educational workshops and training
- Provide instant medical care in emergency treatment.
- Participating in the recording and analysis of occupational accidents and diseases.
- Assist in pre-Employment Medical Examination
- Compilation of all monthly clinical reports for submission to the district medical office.
- Drawing up a community plan in consultation with the Clinical Officer for community sensitization on HIV/AIDS TB Peer education etc.
- Conduct basic Lab Investigations and testing
- Manage patient observation and care in the designated wards.
- Smart Care updates and entries, filé documentation and issuing of Smart Care Numbers
- Ensure that your work is conformity to SHERQ standards
- To conduct walk about, walk through or work site visitations are conducted to check on compliance with occupational health standards e.g. the use of grooves goggles, work suites etc.
- Ensure all occupational health related activities are carried out according to the Zambian Occupational Health Standards
- And any other duties that may be assigned to you by your supervisor.
Knowledge & Skills Required
- Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Safe work practices.
- Safe and proper use and storage of medical materials.
- Must be sober, honest, trustworthy and good character.
- Able to detect a faulty and report accurately
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Diploma in registered nursing.
- A speciality in Public Health or Occupational Health and safety is an added advantage.
- Minimum of two-year working experience.
- Good interpersonal and technical skills.
- Personal Organization as well as high level of integrity is required.
