JOB DETAILS:

To safely and efficiently operate forklift equipment for material handling operations while maintaining equipment condition and complying with all safety regulations in a mining warehouse environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Equipment Operation:
• Safely operate forklifts for loading/unloading and stock movement
• Perform pre-operation inspections (PIV checks) and report defects
• Maintain proper fuel/fluid levels and tire pressures

Stock Handling:
• Accurately move and position materials as per instructions
• Assist in inventory counts and stock rotation
• Maintain clean and organized storage areas

Safety Compliance:
• Strictly adhere to forklift operating procedures
• Implement SLAM (Stop, Look, Assess, Manage) safety protocol
• Report all hazards and near-misses immediately

Equipment Care:
• Perform basic preventive maintenance
• Keep forklift clean and serviceable
• Complete equipment log sheets accurately

Team Coordination:
• Communicate effectively with warehouse team
• Assist in receiving/dispatch operations when required
• Participate in safety meetings and training

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Certification & Licenses:
✓ Grade 12 Certificate (ZAQA verified)
✓ Valid Forklift Operator Permit
✓ Class B Driver's License (advantageous)

Experience & Skills:
• 2+ years forklift operation in mining/industrial setting
• Experience with various forklift types (counterbalance, reach)
• Basic warehouse operations knowledge

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift/move heavy objects (up to 25kg)
• Comfortable working at heights when required
• Good hand-eye coordination
