Role Overview:
The Planning Head oversees the strategic and operational planning of underground mining activities, ensuring alignment with production targets, safety standards, and cost efficiency. This role is critical for long-term mine development and resource optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop short, medium, and long-term mine plans to achieve production goals while optimizing resource extraction.
  • Coordinate with geology and engineering teams to ensure accurate grade control and mine design.
  • Monitor and analyze mining performance metrics, adjusting plans to mitigate risks and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with Zambian mining regulations and safety standards.
  • Lead a team of planning engineers, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
  • Prepare and present reports on mine planning and progress to senior management.

Competencies:

  • Strategic planning and mine design expertise.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac).
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of underground mining methods and safety protocols.
