JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
A Poultry Layers Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a poultry farm that raises laying hens. Their duties include managing the chickens, overseeing egg production, and maintaining the farm.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
• Managing and supervising poultry workers.
• In consultation with the General Manager, prioritizes tasks and decides on the necessary amount of machinery and number of workers.
• Overseeing vaccination, rearing, and medication.
• Organizing and supervising farm maintenance and trainings.
• Recording production, feeding, and mortality information.
• Reporting on productivity, mortalities, and other metrics
• Managing the feed supply to the poultry houses.
• Managing, grading, and loading eggs for sales with correct figures.
• Managing biosecurity and veterinary supervision on the farm

Required Competencies and Skills
• Delivery of key performance indicators
• Commercial egg farming in general.
• Poultry husbandry
• Poultry mechanics skills
• Commercial poultry health (vaccination and medication).

Qualifications and Experience
• A degree or diploma in agriculture or animal sciences
• Must have a minimum of 5+ years working experience in poultry farming
• Experience or qualifications in chicken vaccination and medication
• Good computer skills
• Good communication and people management skills
• A diploma/degree in veterinary medicine an added advantage

Level of Education: Bachelor Degree
