Job Purpose

To manage the procurement of construction materials, equipment, and services required for projects, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with technical specifications, contract requirements, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare procurement plans in line with project schedules and material requirements.
  • Coordinate with project engineers, quantity surveyors, and site teams to determine material specifications and quantities.
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Review specifications, drawings, and BOQs to ensure correct materials are purchased.
  • Issue purchase orders and manage contracts according to company policies.
  • Control costs and ensure procurement stays within approved budgets.
  • Coordinate delivery, transport, and receiving of materials at site.
  • Maintain proper documentation for audit, compliance, and project records.
  • Monitor procurement progress and report delays, risks, and cost status.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Prepare procurement status reports.
  • Provide cost reports

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Procurement, or related field.
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in construction procurement for large projects.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and contracts.
  • Membership with Engineering Institution of Zambia (and procurement body will be an added advantage)
  • Familiarity with BOQs, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, or procurement systems.
