Quality Control Attendant – Lusaka
To support the quality control function in ensuring that all processed tobacco materials meet JTI quality specifications through accurate sampling, testing, monitoring, and documentation during processing and inspection activities.
Responsibilities or duties
Position:
As Quality Control Attendant, you will:
Sampling and Testing
- Conduct sampling of tobacco materials according to defined procedures.
- Perform routine tests including:
- Moisture content
- Temperature checks
- Particle size and stem content
- Chemical analysis (nicotine, sugar, etc.) [Quality co…procedure
- Ensure sampling frequency compliance
Quality Monitoring
- Monitor product quality during processing (online and offline checks).
- Support quality validation processes to ensure compliance with:
- Specification Book
- Leaf Processing Manual [Quality
- Identify and report any deviations from quality standards.
Data Recording and Reporting
- Record test results accurately in required systems and log sheets.
- Support preparation of quality reports for:
- Production runs
- Inspection results
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability of all samples and results.
Non-Conforming Product (NCP) Handling
- Assist in identification and segregation of non-conforming products.
- Support implementation of corrective actions under supervision.
- Ensure proper tagging and movement of affected materials.
Laboratory and Equipment Support
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the QC laboratory.
- Support calibration and routine checks of testing equipment.
- Ensure equipment is used correctly and safely.
Inspection Support
- Assist inspectors during:
- Sample preparation
- Inspection activities
- Ensure proper sample handling and dispatch as required.
Safety and Compliance
- Comply with all EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) procedures.
- Follow PPE requirements and safe working practices.
- Ensure adherence to IMS, Quality Procedures, and company policies.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Minium of a Diploma in Sciences, Agriculture, or related field (added advantage)
- Fluency in English and local languages
- Computer Literate (MS Office )
Functional Skills and Competencies
- Basic laboratory testing skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Good record-keeping capability
- Understanding of quality standards and procedures
- Ability to follow SOPs strictly
- Teamwork and communication skills
Experience needed
- At least 2 years working experience in a quality control, laboratory or manufacturing environment
- Exposure to tobacco processing & agro-processing is an added advantage
