Job Opportunity: Radio Programming Intern
Location: Chipata, Zambia (with occasional travel to other operational areas)
Reports to: Farm Talk Radio Producer – COMACO East
Duration: Internship (with potential for extension based on performance and funding)
Are you passionate about radio production, community storytelling, and rural outreach?
COMACO is looking for a Radio Programming Intern to join our Communications Team
and support the production of our impactful Farm Talk Radio Program.
About the Role
As a Radio Programming Intern, you will support the Farm Talk Radio Producer in editing
and assembling weekly episodes for broadcast. You’ll also help organize listener feedback,
support the collection of stories from the field, and contribute to content development across
COMACO’s platforms – including social media, newsletters, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with editing weekly Farm Talk Radio episodes to ensure high production
quality and consistency.
- Help develop and organize scripts, jingles, interview segments, and field recordings.
- Compile and analyze listener feedback from call-ins and texts; prepare summary reports for the Radio Producer and Communications Manager.
- Support community visits to collect stories, interviews, and other content aligned with COMACO’s messaging.
- Archive and label all collected content for future use.
- Contribute to other communications activities as assigned.
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in media, communications, journalism, or related field.
- Practical experience in radio editing and production (audio editing software proficiency is a plus).
- Strong communication and writing skills in English and Nyanja.
- Creative, organized, and passionate about telling impactful community stories.
- Willingness to travel to rural areas.
