JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
The Reman – Engine Specialist is responsible for the disassembly, inspection, reconditioning, assembly, and testing of remanufactured engines for mining and construction equipment. The role requires technical expertise in diesel engines, ensuring that all remanufactured components meet OEM standards for quality, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities
Engine Remanufacturing & Repairs
• Disassemble engines and components, carefully documenting and identifying re-usable parts.
• Inspect and diagnose engine components for wear, damage, and failure modes.
• Recondition and rebuild engine components according to OEM specifications and quality standards.
• Reassemble engines with precision, ensuring correct fitment, torque settings, and alignment.
• Test completed engines using diagnostic equipment to verify operational performance before release.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
• Ensure all engine rebuilds meet OEM specifications and quality control standards.
• Maintain detailed records of rebuild processes, parts usage, and test results.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards within the workshop.
• Follow strict warranty and remanufacturing guidelines to ensure reliability and longevity of rebuilt engines.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
• Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve complex engine issues.
• Work closely with the workshop, engineering, and warranty teams to ensure all rebuilds meet customer expectations.
• Assist field service teams with engine failure analysis and repairs when required.
Inventory & Documentation
• Coordinate with the parts department to ensure availability of components and avoid delays.
• Complete job cards, service reports, and failure analysis documentation for every engine rebuild.
• Ensure proper documentation of serial numbers, parts usage, and test procedures.
Training & Development
• Stay updated with OEM training programs and certifications for engine remanufacturing.
• Train junior technicians and apprentices on proper disassembly, inspection, and rebuilding techniques.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency and quality enhancement.

Job Specifications
Qualifications & Experience
• Diploma or |craft certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in engine rebuilding, preferably with an OEM or mining equipment supplier.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, including Caterpillar, Cummins, Komatsu, or Volvo engines.
• Experience with engine diagnostics, performance testing, and failure analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and diagnostic software (ET, INSITE, or similar).
• OEM certifications on engine rebuilds will be an added advantage.

• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and specifications.
