The Cotton Development Trust (CDT) is a leading cotton research and development organization dedicated to improving cotton productivity, seed production, sustainability, and farmer livelihoods in Zambia. RESEARCH ASSISTANT – COTTON BREEDING

Job Summary: The Research Assistant (Cotton Breeding) will support breeding programs aimed at developing high-yielding, pest-resistant, and climate-resilient cotton varieties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in field and greenhouse breeding activities
  • Collect, record, and analyze breeding data
  • Support selection and evaluation of cotton germplasm
  • Maintain trial plots and breeding nurseries
  • Assist in data management and report writing

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science or a related field
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Must be mature, flexible, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Flexible and adaptable in fast-changing contexts
