The SHEQ Officer is responsible for ensuring safe, healthy, environmentally compliant, and quality‑driven operations across all sites. This includes conducting inspections and risk assessments, enforcing PPE and safety procedures, investigating incidents, supporting environmental and quality management systems, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and Zambian regulations, training employees and contractors, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the overall safety culture and operational excellence.

Your mission:

  • Safety & Health: Conduct inspections, lead risk assessments, enforce SOPs, monitor PPE, investigate incidents, and coordinate safety inductions and emergency drills.
  • Hazard Identification: Proactively identify unsafe conditions, non‑compliance, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Environmental Management: Support waste segregation, spill prevention, pollution control, and contribute to audits, reporting, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement Epiroc Quality Standards, assist with audits, monitor NCRs, and verify compliance during repairs and field activities.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to SHEQ policies, ISO standards, local regulations, and support audits, contractor evaluations, and legal register maintenance.
  • Training & Awareness: Facilitate SHEQ campaigns, deliver training on LOTO, working at height, confined space, manual handling, and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain SHE registers, incident logs, statutory documentation, and provide accurate reports to regulatory bodies and stakeholders.

Your Profile:

  • Diploma or Certificate in SHEQ Management systems, or related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in SHEQ roles, preferably in mining, heavy industry, or service sectors.
  • NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, or related SHEQ certifications (added advantage).
  • Knowledge of Zambian occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Understanding of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and quality systems.
  • Experience with incident investigation (5-Why, RCA).
  • Valid driver’s license (advantage for mine site visits).
