JOB  PURPOSE:

To assist the project Manager by ensuring all personnel and tasks being conducted conform to all environmental and mining statutory requirements for a mine site to prevent accidents throughout the project duration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate and implement SHE framework for the mine site.
    ·        Generate and implement SHEQ policies and procedures for the mine site.
    ·        Conducting inspections and coaching to ensure compliance to safety standards.
    ·        Conducting safety awareness programmes.
    ·        Conducting incident investigations and facilitating issue-based risk assessments.
    ·        Ensure the Site Safety and Health Plan is prepared and implemented.
    ·        Correct unsafe acts or conditions through continuous awareness and sensitisation programmes.
    ·        Conduct impromptu workplace inspections to ensure personnel are conforming to laid down safety procedures.
    ·        Prepare reports on occurrences or incidents and provide recorded statistical information.
    ·        Ensure all safety inductions for employees and visitors are conducted.
    ·        Ensure safety or toolbox talks are conducted and documented daily before commencement of any works.
    ·        Carry out any other activities as assigned by the Supervisor.
    ·        Must be willing to work in shifts, including weekends if necessary
Job Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Diploma/Certificate in Occupations Health and Safety obtained from a recognized/reputable institution. Degree will be an added advantage.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or any relevant International Health and Safety Certification will be added advantages.
  • Qualifications/certification in (ISO45001) or integrated management system will be an added advantage.

Skills and competencies 

  • Strong attention to detail and safety-conscious mindset.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Physically fit to handle the demands of the job.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to make quick decisions.
  • Good team player and able to coordinate work with minimum supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite.
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
  •  Minimum of 1-2 years’ work experience in the mining industry or construction site 

Working Environment - RUFUNSA MINING PROJECT SITE 

Job holder is  exposed to project site working environment in remote locations. The job holder will be stationed at the  Rufunsa mining project site.
