The Role:
The Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth by managing existing customer relationships and identifying new business opportunities. This role focuses on promoting and selling the Livingstone Island Excursion, ensuring strong stakeholder relationships, and executing strategic sales initiatives to enhance revenue potential.
Key responsibilities include:
Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue targets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the customer base.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials and sales campaigns.
Customer Engagement & Sales Visits
- Conduct sales trips within Zambia and neighbouring Zimbabwe to promote the excursion.
- Deliver persuasive presentations to potential clients, showcasing the excursion's value.
- Build lasting relationships with travel agencies, corporate partners, and individual clients.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including boat operators, guides, and local partners.
- Negotiate favourable terms, pricing, and contracts to ensure profitability.
- Ensure timely payments and adherence to supplier agreements.
Market Research & Competitive Analysis
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities and potential risks.
- Provide valuable feedback to improve excursion offerings and competitiveness.
Trade Shows & Industry Events
- Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions, and networking events.
- Prepare and present promotional materials effectively to attract new clients.
- Engage with potential partners to generate leads and business opportunities.
Reporting & Sales Performance Analysis
- Maintain accurate sales records, tracking progress toward revenue targets.
- Analyse sales data to inform decision-making and refine strategies.
- Collaborate with management to develop sales forecasts and performance reports.
Sales Team Leadership & Training
- Assist in managing and training sales representatives within the organization.
- Provide guidance on sales techniques and customer engagement strategies.
- Ensure alignment with company objectives and revenue growth targets.
Qualifications or specialized knowledge/experience required:.
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years in a sales manager/account manager role, preferably in the tourism industry.
- Proven track record of successful sales performance, exceeding targets.
- Experience working in customer-service-oriented environments.
- Willingness to travel extensively within Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and possibly beyond.
- Familiarity with hospitality and tourism booking systems.
- Market awareness and understanding of the Victoria Falls tourism industry.
- Proficiency in booking software, CRM tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills for market research and sales performance tracking.
- Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
