Company Overview
We are a growing, dynamic financial services provider dedicated to offering accessible lending solutions and exceptional client service. To support our expanding portfolio and maintain robust financial health, we are seeking a disciplined, results-driven Loan Collections and Recoveries Officer.
Position Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to manage the day-to-day operations of loan collections and recoveries, ensuring the timely retrieval of disbursed funds and minimizing non-performing loans (NPLs). Beyond credit management, the successful candidate will drive daily sales by engaging prospective clients and actively participating in field visitations to evaluate and maintain strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities & Duties

- Monitor the loan portfolio daily to identify accounts falling into arrears or showing early signs of default.
- Initiate direct, professional contact with defaulting clients via telephone, email, and letters to secure payment commitments.
- Negotiate structured, viable repayment plans with overdue borrowers in alignment with internal credit policies.
- Track and follow up on promised payments rigorously to ensure strict adherence to agreed timelines.
- Identify high-risk non-performing loans and execute formal recovery procedures, including the tracking and repossession of pledged collateral where necessary.
2. Daily Sales & Client Onboarding
- Conduct daily sales outreach to pitch loan products to prospective corporate and individual clients.
- Interview loan applicants to understand their financial needs and primary business activities.
- Perform preliminary credit assessments and assist clients through the onboarding and documentation pipeline.
3. Field Visitations & Relationship Management
- Conduct regular field visitations to clients' business premises or residential locations for physical verification during onboarding.
- Undertake face-to-face recovery visits to defaulting borrowers to assess their situation and reinforce payment obligations.
- Maintain open, professional, and respectful communication with clients, preserving the firm's reputation even during difficult recovery scenarios.
4. Reporting & Compliance
- Compile accurate daily, weekly, and monthly collection and sales performance reports for management.
- Ensure all collection and recovery actions comply with local financial regulations, consumer protection laws, and institutional lending policies.
- Maintain meticulous, updated records of all client interactions, payment agreements, and recovery actions in the system.
Job Qualifications & Requirements
Education: A minimum of a Diploma or Degree in a Business-Related Course (Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or a related field) is strictly required.
Legal Background: A certificate, diploma, or demonstrable background in Law/Legal Studies will be considered a strong distinct advantage (highly utilized in drafting demand letters, understanding loan contracts, and navigating collateral enforcement).
Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years of hands-on experience in microfinance, credit collections, loan recoveries, or direct sales within the financial sector.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong, persuasive negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to maintain firmness under pressure.
- Sharp analytical skills to evaluate client cash flows and repayment capacities.
- Physical fitness and willingness to travel frequently for field visitations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word).
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary.
- Performance-based commission/incentives tied to collections targets and sales volumes.
- Opportunities for career growth within a fast-expanding firm.
