Zambia Sugar Plc is an ABF Sugar Company, the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, and the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.

As a School Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience of our students and guiding a team of dedicated educators. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of our students and contribute to the continued success of our institution.
Responsibilities or duties
Policy & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Zambia Ministry of Education policies.
- Liaise with the Ministry of Education on syllabus changes, exam dates, and policy updates.
- Ensure the school meets all requirements for exam registrations and annual renewals.
Academic Leadership
- Oversee implementation of the Zambian curriculum and ECZ examination requirements for all examination classes.
- Ensure quality teaching, learning, and assessment across all subjects, recommending interventions where necessary.
- Lead academic quality assurance through lesson observations, work scrutiny, and examination analysis.
- Monitor lesson planning, ensuring teachers prepare lesson plans, weekly forecasts, and schemes of work.
- Use data tracking and interventions to raise academic standards.
- Select appropriate curricula for Primary and Secondary sections.
Examinations & Reporting
- Prepare the school for national examinations, including secure storage of examination papers.
- Oversee timetables, examinations, and academic reporting.
- Prepare monthly reports for the school section.
Staffing & Professional Development
- Recruit, interview, and select qualified teaching staff with HR support.
- Supervise, mentor, appraise, and support teaching and non-teaching staff.
- Line-manage Heads of Sections and support professional development.
- Manage staff discipline, performance, and recommend confirmations/promotions.
- Promote in-service training in supervision and pedagogy.
Administration & Records
- Maintain accurate school records, including teacher registers and statistical data.
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, monitor expenditure, and enforce cost control.
- Procure teaching aids, materials, and other resources.
- Prepare and publish the school calendar in line with Ministry guidelines.
Student Welfare & Discipline
- Create a conducive teaching and learning environment.
- Maintain pupil discipline, welfare, and positive behaviour management.
- Support extracurricular activities, sports, and cultural programs.
Strategic Development & Community Engagement
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans for school improvement.
- Act as a liaison between the school, parents, and the Ministry of Education, ensuring open and effective communication.
- Represent the school at official functions, meetings, and community events.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Secondary School, including student discipline, extracurricular activities, and event planning.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Master’s Degree preferred).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of national education policies and examination systems.
- Financial management and budgeting expertise.
- Ability to inspire staff, students, and the community.
- Suitably qualified applicants must provide certificates verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
Experience needed
Preferably 7–10 years of teaching and/or administrative experience.
