The Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) was established by an Act of Parliament No. 15 of 1983 (as amended in 1994), Chapter 137 of the Laws of Zambia, repealed and replaced by the Examinations Council of Zambia Act No. 3 of 2023 whose mandate is to prepare and administer examinations and award certificates to candidates who pass the examinations. The vision of the Council is to be an Educational Assessment Body of Excellence.
Applications from suitably qualified candidates are invited to fill the following position at the Examinations Council of Zambia Headquarters.
Responsibilities or duties
- Plans and budgets for the examination development process.
- Prepares monthly and activity reports timeous.
- Accomplishes agreed set targets and ensures that performance is assessed and evaluated timely.
- Leads and coaches the panel setters and proof readers to ensure achievement of set objectives.
- Collaborates with item writers, moderators and proof readers.
- Maintains and updates a record of item writers, moderators and proof readers.
- Trains items writers, moderators and proof readers and recommends for appointment.
- Commissions item writers according to the laid down timeframe.
- Develops and reviews Examination Syllabi.
- Provides expert content knowledge with regard to test development and curriculum.
- Edits and proofreads test items to the required standards.
- Submits camera-ready examination papers to the Principal Examinations Specialist – School Examinations.
- Assesses and evaluates the performance of setters and escalates the reports to the Principal Examinations Specialist – School Examinations.
Qualifications or requirements
- School Certificate or its equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree with Education in Mathematics.
- Member of the Teaching Council of Zambia.
Experience needed
Minimum 3 years’ work experience in Teaching, Test Development and/or Examination Administration.
