Role

Reporting to the Human Resources Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing support in all human resources functions.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Ensuring timely, professional and consistent HR service delivery to all stakeholders.
  • Working with line managers during the development of organizational structures to ensure adherence to budgets.
  • Ensuring end-to-end recruitment through the HRIS platform and all related activities such as job advertisement, interviewing, selection, reference checking and employment contracts are done correctly.
  • Labor cost control by ensuring that approved recruitment plans are aligned with the headcount budget.
  • Preparing and conducting inductions for new employees, onboarding processes and communicate payroll policies (e.g. payroll cut-off dates) for all new employees.
  • Updating and maintaining all HR records in the HRIS; Maintaining all employee records and files, including appointment, termination, probation, performance, induction and training records.
  • Work with and/or offer support to all HR initiatives and projects such as Access and Time Management Systems that interface with Payroll and are used for attendance monitoring.
  • Preparation & processing of monthly payroll data inputs.
  • Providing support and assistance to Supervisors/Managers in disciplinary matters, grievance handling, dispute resolution and performance management.
  • Managing employee separations and exit processes to ensure business continuity, effective knowledge transfer, compliance and timely workforce replacement when required.
  • Maintaining a weekly tracker of all outstanding issues in your respective departments and ensure closure of action points.
  • Ensuring that all policies, procedures and practices are compliant with relevant legislation.
  • Champion employee engagement, culture, and inclusion initiatives.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Senior HR Officer or similar role.
  • Experience in the Mining Industry will be an added advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary HR practice and compliance.
  • Must have good understanding and able to interpret the Zambian Labour Laws.
  • Strong background in Human Resource Management, general business acumen and the capacity to act as an internal consultant.
  • Must be a certified member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management.
