The Radiation Protection Authority (RPA) is a Regulatory Body under the Ministry of Technology and Science established by the Ionising Radiation Protection Act No. 16 of 2005 and its Amendment Act No. 19 of 2011. RPA’s mandate is to protect the public, workers and the environment from hazards arising from the use of devices or materials capable of producing Ionising Radiation.
The Authority has a vacancy for the following position:
SENIOR LEGAL OFFICER (1)
Reports To: Legal Manager
Location: Lusaka
Job Objective
To undertake legal services in order to safeguard the interests of the Authority and ensure that its operations are conducted in accordance with the law.
Main Duties
- Provides secretariat services to the Board and its Committees in order to facilitate the smooth conduct of business.
- Reviews and prepares contracts, agreements, laws, regulations and other legal documents to safeguard the interests of the Authority.
- Reviews draft policy documents to ensure compliance with relevant legal requirements.
- Provides timely legal opinions and advice on matters affecting the Authority to ensure adherence to the law and minimise legal and financial risks.
Minimum Vocational/Professional Qualifications
- Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate.
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree.
- Advocate of the High Court.
- Member of the Law Association of Zambia.
- Valid Practising Certificate
Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience
- At least four (4) years’ relevant work experience.
