JOB DETAILS:
The Job Holder will be required to provide nursing care (involving the screening and administering treatment) to patients at the LAMU Clinic so as to minimize downtime and maximize availability of students and faculty members and other stakeholders of the university.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
• Opens files for new cases in respect of new members of staff or students and members of the public issuing cards, pulls out cards for existing members and attach to file of patient.
• Screens out-patients checking temperature, blood pressure, weight and records initial complaints and refers patient to Medical Officer for relevant action.
• Administers treatment to patients which include giving drugs, injections, IV treatment, suturing and dressing wounds, tepid sponging etc as instructed by Medical Officer.
• Diagnosis and prescribes treatment for minor illness, especially in absence of the Medical Officer.
• Conducts HIV counselling and testing and administers treatment as prescribed by the Medical Officer and books expectant/nursing mothers for PMTCT.
• Conducts ante-natal clinics for pregnant women giving them psychological and health talks and monitoring their pregnancies so as to ensure safe births and healthy babies.
• Escorts referred patients to other hospitals such as UTH and LMGH, attending to them while in transit especially with emergency cases which may entail resuscitation of patient, administering oxygen and so on.
• Orders supply of cleaning materials through Stores and House-Keeping Sections upon approval by Supervision.

Qualifications
• BSC Nursing Degree
• Midwifery certificate
• A minimum of 5 years working experience in a busy hospital.
• Valid practicing GNC License
