EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – SENIOR RESIDENT ENGINEER
We are seeking an experienced Senior Resident Engineer to lead and manage civil engineering projects, with a particular focus on dams engineering, earthworks, and construction supervision. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered in accordance with the approved scope, programme, budget, technical specifications, contractual requirements, and quality standards.
The Senior Resident Engineer will provide strong technical and project leadership on site, manage project resources and deliverables, monitor progress, and lead technical teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage civil engineering projects from implementation through to completion.
- Ensure project delivery is in accordance with the agreed scope, programme, budget, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
- Provide technical leadership in dams engineering; earthworks; construction supervision; and site investigations.
- Supervise construction activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings, engineering standards, specifications, method statements, and contractual obligations.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor project programmes and schedules.
- Track project progress, identify potential risks and delays, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Manage project resources, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, site personnel, and other project stakeholders.
- Review and assess contractor submissions, work programmes, technical documentation, and progress reports.
- Oversee the implementation of quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Ensure that inspections, testing, records, and documentation are completed in accordance with project requirements.
- Identify technical, commercial, programme, and construction risks, and support the development of mitigation measures.
- Prepare and review technical reports, progress reports, site records, and project correspondence.
- Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineering staff.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and make informed technical and management decisions.
- Promote a strong culture of health, safety, environmental compliance, quality, and professional conduct on site.
- Perform any other duties reasonably required in support of successful project delivery.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma or BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering with a professional registration with EIZ.
- At least 20 or more years’ experience in civil engineering, including demonstrated experience in dams engineering; earthworks; and construction supervision.
- Proven experience in conducting and managing site investigations.
- Strong project management and contract administration skills.
- Strong project planning, programming, and scheduling capabilities.
- Proven experience in quality assurance and quality control.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project resources, budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
- Experience monitoring construction progress and managing project risks and delays.
- Ability to take ownership of projects and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven ability and willingness to lead and supervise junior to mid-level technical staff on site.
- Strong technical report-writing and documentation skills.
- Good verbal and written English communication skills.
- Willingness to work on project sites and travel as required.
