JOB DETAILS:

To lead the strategic maintenance and optimization of shaft steel infrastructure and winder systems, ensuring maximum availability, safety, and operational efficiency in deep-level mining operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Maintenance Management:
• Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance schedules for shaft steel infrastructure
• Create detailed shaft scrolls to coordinate repair activities and minimize production downtime
• Oversee condition monitoring programs for critical shaft equipment and winders

Technical Leadership:
• Direct replacement programs for aging shaft components and structural elements
• Manage strategic inventory of specialized spare parts for shaft systems
• Implement reliability-centered maintenance strategies for shaft infrastructure

Safety & Compliance:
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with MHSA and company safety standards
• Conduct regular safety audits of shaft maintenance operations
• Lead incident investigations related to shaft equipment failures

Performance Optimization:
• Identify and implement technological improvements for shaft efficiency
• Develop predictive maintenance programs using advanced monitoring systems
• Collaborate with engineering teams on shaft upgrade projects

Administration & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment histories
• Prepare detailed technical reports on shaft integrity and performance
• Manage multi-million-dollar maintenance budgets with cost control measures

Stakeholder Coordination:
• Liaise with operations teams to schedule maintenance windows
• Coordinate with procurement on critical spares supply chain
• Interface with regulatory bodies on shaft compliance matters

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Certification:
✓ Grade 12 Certificate (ZAQA verified)
✓ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ZAQA verified)
✓ Certification in Winder Systems Maintenance (advantageous)

Technical Expertise:
• In-depth knowledge of deep shaft maintenance methodologies
• Specialized expertise in shaft steel structures and winder systems
• Understanding of mine hoisting regulations and standards

Experience:
• 10+ years progressive experience in underground mining maintenance
• Minimum 5 years in senior shaft maintenance role
• Proven track record managing large-scale shaft projects

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
• Exceptional organizational and planning abilities
• Strong leadership and team development skills
• Advanced problem-solving in high-pressure situations
• Excellent technical reporting capabilities
