Job Purpose

The Site Accountant is responsible for managing financial activities at site level, ensuring proper recording of transactions, cost control, budgeting, and compliance with company policies and financial regulations. The role involves working closely with the project manager, procurement team, and head office administration and finance department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of all site financial transactions, expenses, and payments
  • Prepare and submit financial reports to head office
  • Monitor site expenses against budget and report variances
  • Assist in budget preparation and cost forecasting
  • Manage petty cash, cash requests, and reconciliations
  • Verify purchase requests, deliveries, and supporting documents before payment
  • Coordinate with stores to reconcile stock and purchase records
  • Prepare payroll for site staff and casual workers and verify attendance
  • Ensure compliance with company financial procedures and statutory requirements
  • Maintain proper documentation for audits and support auditors when required
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cost and financial reports
  • Report any financial irregularities to management immediately

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • ACCA/ CIMA/ ZICA (Added advantage)
  • Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in construction projects
  • Knowledge of accounting software (Pastel, QuickBooks, Sage, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
