SITE MANAGER – MINING OPERATIONS

A member of the Omnia group of companies, Bulk Mining Explosives Limited (BME) is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Bulk Emulsion Explosives. BME seeks applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill in the position of SITE MANAGER – LUSAKA & MAMBA SITES to be based in Lusaka

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Site Manager to lead and oversee day‑to‑day in our Lusaka and Maamba operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost‑effective production while maintaining compliance with legal, environmental, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong operational leadership across all site activities, including production, maintenance, and logistics.
  • Ensure full compliance with Mine Health and Safety legislation and company HSE standards.
  • Drive production targets, cost control, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage and develop site leadership and operational teams.
  • Oversee mine planning execution, equipment utilization, and contractor performance.
  • Monitor and report on operational KPIs, budgets, and performance metrics.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, productivity, and sustainability.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Mining Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in mining operations, with at least 5 years in a senior supervisory or management role.
  • Proven experience managing open-pit and/or underground mining operations.
  • Strong knowledge of mine health and safety legislation and risk management practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office; mine planning and reporting systems advantageous).

Other Requirements/Added Advantage

  • Blasting certificate
  • Membership to the Engineering Institute of Zambia
  • Strong track record of operational turnaround or start‑up projects.
