JOB DETAILS:
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
• Review construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand rebar placement requirements.
• Cut, bend, and shape steel bars to the required sizes and configurations using tools like rebar cutters and benders.
• Ensure that rebar meets quality and safety standards.
• Place rebar according to project specifications and design plans, often within concrete forms (shuttering) or on existing structures.
• Secure rebar in position using wire, tie wire, clips, or other fastening methods.
• Maintain proper spacing, alignment, and overlap of rebar to achieve the desired structural strength.
• Inspect rebar materials for defects or damage and report any issues to supervisors.
• Verify that rebar placement follows safety guidelines and local building codes.
• Conduct quality control checks to ensure proper installation and alignment.
• Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety regulations while working at heights and around heavy machinery.
• Safeguard against tripping hazards and implement fall protection measures.
• Collaborate closely with other construction team members, including concrete workers, carpenters, and supervisors.
• Communicate effectively to coordinate rebar installation with other construction activities.
• Operate rebar cutting and bending machines, as well as hand tools, safely and efficiently.
• Maintain and perform basic repairs on tools and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues during rebar installation.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience as a Steel Fixer or in a related construction role is beneficial.
• Knowledge of construction drawings, blueprints, and rebar placemen techniques.
• Familiarity with construction materials, tools, and equipment.
• Physical fitness and the ability to work in physically demanding conditions,
including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in rebar placement.
• Understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
• Effective communication skills and teamwork abilities.
• Steel Fixers are vital to the structural integrity of concrete constructions, ensuring they withstand various loads and environmental conditions. They contribute to the safety and longevity of buildings and infrastructure by accurately installing rebar according to design specifications and quality standards.
