Background
Maamba Energy Limited (MEL), a prominent energy company jointly owned by Nava Bharat Singapore Pte. Limited and ZCCM-IH plc, is seeking qualified candidates for stores officer jobs in Maamba. Located in Maamba, Sinazongwe District, Southern Province, Zambia, MEL operates a large-scale coal mine alongside a 300 Megawatt coal-fired power plant. We invite dynamic and motivated professionals to join our Stores Department in a full-time capacity.
Position Overview
The Stores Officer will oversee the efficient management of material receiving, storage, issuing, and dispatch processes. This role ensures accurate stock records, safe handling of materials, and strict adherence to approved warehouse procedures and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming materials against approved documentation
- Label, store, and preserve stock in designated warehouse locations
- Issue and dispatch materials to authorized personnel
- Process returns, stock transfers, and handle damaged goods appropriately
- Maintain accurate SAP/ERP inventory transactions and stores records
- Participate in regular stock counts and investigate any discrepancies
- Ensure storage areas are safe, clean, and orderly at all times
- Comply fully with warehouse procedures and Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) requirements
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Diploma in Stores Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, or related discipline
- SAP or ERP inventory management training is advantageous
- Valid driver’s licence is preferred
- Minimum of two years’ relevant experience in stores, warehousing, inventory control, or materials handling
- Experience with receiving, issuing, dispatch, stocktaking, and stores documentation
- Mining or industrial warehouse experience is an added advantage
Skills, Abilities, and Attributes
- Strong knowledge of stock control, receiving, issuing, and dispatch procedures
- Proficient in stock identification, labelling, binning, and preservation techniques
- Basic familiarity with SAP or ERP inventory transactions
- Accurate recordkeeping and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Understanding of safe materials handling and warehouse housekeeping practices
- Safety-conscious, dependable, and disciplined
- Organized, honest, and accountable with strong customer focus
- Ability to follow procedures meticulously and work cooperatively within a team
