Project Summary
The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), under the U.S. Department of State-funded Controlling HIV Epidemic Program (CHEP), supports the Government of Zambia in achieving and sustaining HIV epidemic control in line with national and global targets, including the 95-95-95 goals.
The CHEP project focuses on strengthening HIV prevention, care, and treatment services through a person-centered approach, while enhancing maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) and Global Health Security (GHS) outcomes. The project operates in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) at national, provincial, district, and facility levels to ensure sustainability, country ownership, and transition readiness.
Job summary
Reports to Senior Strategic Information Officer. He/she will be responsible for development of data collection tools, aggregating and management of data.
Main duties
- Designs and develops data collection tools
- Designs and creates routine performance monitoring tools and reports
- Ensures that weekly and monthly reports are submitted on time
- Extracts routine and ad hoc datasets for programmatic and research studies
- Develops SOPs for handling data
- Management of overall lifecycle of programmatic data
- Participates in data collection and QA/QI activities
- Takes part in departmental planning activities
- Mentors Data Coordinators and Data Associates in efficient ways to manipulate and use data
- Mentors Data Coordinators and Data Associates on the definition of all performance monitoring indicators
- Participates in the presentation of data to various internal and external stakeholders
- Trains staff on data collection and entry procedures and common errors/problems within the clinic and at other sites as requested
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Higher/Advanced Diploma in Computing/ICT, Mathematics, Engineering or related subject
- Experience in an M&E team working on PEPFAR MER indicators will be an added advantage
- Database querying and management in any RDBMS, e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres etc
- Medium to advanced skills in any data analysis tool e.g. R, STATA, Excel etc
- Medium to advanced software programming skills in an object oriented or functional programming language
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a very high-pressure environment
- Very good interpersonal skills
- Good team player
