JOB DETAILS:
People’s Process on Housing and poverty in Zambia (PPHPZ) is a local NGO is implementing the project in collaboration with its grassroots partner the Zambia Homeless and Poor People’s Federation (ZHPPF) the grassroots movement of people living in slums. PPHPZ’s mission is to improve access to land, decent housing, livelihoods in urban, peri-urban and rural communities in Zambia through innovative community-led initiatives and community managed revolving funds for sustained development. The Federation consists of families from poor urban, peri-urban and rural communities, who have mobilized themselves and joined hands to fight homelessness & poverty. Over the past years PPHPZ has been working with the federation supporting them on housing. PPHPZ aims to set a precedent for the delivery of low cost housing particularly for low-income people.

PURPOSE:
To provide Construction Supervision services for the construction and equipping of 20 houses in Kalulushi. To monitor and inspect construction work, record progress, carry out handover procedures and ensure compliance with contract documents, construction regulations and best practice.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience Substantial experience as Construction Supervisor/Surveyor/Trade Foreman, on new & occupied sites. Some experience with working with community projects
• Skills/Abilities: Able to prepare and write progress records. Able to prioritise, plan and manage own workload and projects to meet conflicting work demands and deadlines. Able to use Microsoft Office software i.e. Word & Excel or equivalent software
• Education & Training: A relevant technical qualification in construction related subject and membership of an appropriate institute
• Other requirements: Able to attend weekly meetings and site meetings as required.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
Must have at least five 5 years work experience
Must have a diploma or trade certificate
Must have worked on a project similar to the advertised position
Must have a good understanding of MS Office/Excel
Must poses excellent communication skills
A good and strong leader

Experience in Months: 60

Level of Education:
Postgraduate Degree
