Job Description
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed employees for the position of Supervisor – Mine Roads to join the versatile Mining Team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Coordinator – Mine Roads, you will be responsible for carrying out operational Mine Road works that assist the Mining Operations Team to focus on meeting production targets.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensure personnel are adequately inducted in their work area and are aware of all workplace rules and critical procedures applying at LMC.
• Actively contribute to site safety policy, share initiatives and implement change as directed by the General Manager and Management Team.
• Work in accordance with the road works plan as defined and agreed for the specific work area.
• Implementation of wet weather planning of haul road construction and maintenance.
• Work closely with shift supervisors to maintain site safety standards i.e. windrow heights, road surfaces and dewatering.
• Directly responsible for the haul road maintenance.
• Actively promote, monitor and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices.
• Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to company policy, statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed.
• Identifying the risks in their work area and using the correct controls.
• Reporting to the Supervisor immediately any actual or potential unsafe conditions or activities, mishaps, incidents, injuries or illnesses in the workplace.
• Assisting new employees in the application of the proper work procedures and practices.
• Complying with instructions given pertaining to the use of personal protective clothing, equipment or gear or any matter in relation to health and safety.
• Management of mine plan and scheduling of equipment and works.
• Work with the coordinator to achieve production and cost targets in conjunction with the daily, weekly and monthly mining plans that correspond with the annual production target.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
• Minimum Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of Two (2) years’ experience in the open pit mining industry
• Experience in large multi pit operations utilizing large scale mining equipment, i.e. drill rigs and blasting experience essential.
• Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
• Competent in incident/accident investigation
• Able to drive and should hold a valid driver’s license.
