Job Description:
TAILORING TUTOR ADVERT
Bwafwano CHBCO was established in 1996 as a community response to the increasing number of HIV/AIDS/TB and OVC in Chazanga catchment area, a peri-urban settlement of over 103,000 people north of Lusaka main city.
JOB DETAILS
- Providing hands-on instruction and demonstrations in the use of sewing machines, cutting patterns, fabric selection, and garment assembly.
• Assisting students in developing practical tailoring skills, such as taking measurements, altering patterns, and fitting garments.
• Teaching pattern making techniques for creating custom patterns based on individual measurements or altering existing patterns.
• Educating students about different types of fabrics, their characteristics, and suitability for specific garments.
• Instructing on the proper operation and maintenance of sewing machines and other tailoring tools.
• Ensuring that students follow safety practices when using tools and equipment in the tailoring workshop.
• Encouraging creativity in design and helping students develop their unique style in tailoring.
Qualification & Experience Required:
- Crafts Certificate or Diploma in Tailoring/Design.
- Previous experience providing participatory training in tailoring and design to young adults.
- Previous experience teaching in a vocational school as tailor and design tutor.
- Ability to train and impart knowledge to trainees of various levels of formal education.
- Familiarity with the complexities of accountability, organizational growth and change, and the ethical dimensions of NGO work.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural/multi-national setting.
- Good team player.
- Ability to exercise conscience and intolerance to corruption.
