Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counselling and mental health support to children.
  • Assess children’s needs and support diagnosis, treatment planning, and care coordination.
  • Work with caregivers, families, and professionals to guide treatment and support recovery.
  • Educate children, caregivers, parents, and communities on health, abuse prevention, medication, and available resources.
  • Review treatment plans and refer children and families to appropriate support services.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and document each child’s progress against treatment goals.
  • Maintain records, complete required documentation, and prepare reports, including for legal action where necessary.
  • Assess children through interviews, review records, consultations, and relevant evaluations.
  • Prepare monthly reports, document success stories, and share relevant therapy research with the team.
  • Assess and address behavioral and emotional issues affecting children and families.
  • Counsel children affected by trauma, substance abuse, violence, and related challenges.
  • Monitor behavioral progress and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Promote child safety and wellbeing in line with legal, ethical, and organisational standards.
  • Ensure policy compliance and support responses to reported child abuse cases with Senior Management and law enforcement.
  • Lead risk assessments and preparedness for child protection incidents.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Psychology, with a valid practising licence.
  • Experience in child counselling, rehabilitation, behavioural monitoring, or similar child-focused work.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate managed cases and adapt therapeutic methods to each child’s needs.
  • Excellent communication skills with children from diverse ages and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of relevant professional, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements.
