About the Opportunity
BEM Consult is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Training & Development Coordinator – Soft Skills.
Job Purpose
The Soft Skills Training and Development Coordinator will ensure the smooth and effective functioning of training events and special projects across the group. The role will include designing, developing, and coordinating blended sales and soft skills learning programmes to improve sales performance, customer experience, and employee capability across the group.
The successful candidate will manage eLearning and Talent Soft Campus, coordinate external providers for specialist training, and measure training impact against defined commercial KPIs.
Overall Responsibilities
- Review and organise training plans and design training programmes for corporate HR training and related initiatives.
- Design and deliver training programmes for new and existing sales staff on product knowledge and company processes.
- Create physical and digital learning materials, including slide decks, manuals, role-play scenarios, and case studies.
- Conduct skills gap analyses, facilitate group workshops, and observe live sales calls to provide actionable feedback.
- Prepare appropriate training methods, including simulations, mentoring, on-the-job training, and professional development programmes.
- Inform employees about available training opportunities and provide the necessary information.
- Conduct organisation-wide training needs assessments to identify knowledge and skills gaps.
- Implement recognised learning principles while exploring new training methods and techniques.
- Assist and guide staff on eLearning modules.
- Deliver training in customer complaint handling and communication skills.
- Develop educational aids and training materials.
- Review and analyse instructional effectiveness and prepare reports measuring the impact of training on employee skills and business KPIs.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts on instructional design.
- Manage the curriculum database and training records.
- Organise Train-the-Trainer sessions for internal subject matter experts.
- Encourage employee participation in eLearning programmes.
- Oversee in-house training facilities and equipment.
- Produce monthly training reports for management.
- Track monthly training hours for each member of staff.
- Measure the overall effectiveness of training programmes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Marketing, Sales, Organisational Psychology, Education, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in Training and Development aligned to Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, and Soft Skills Training.
- Proven experience as a Soft Skills Trainer, Corporate Trainer, or in a similar Learning and Development role.
- Exceptional public speaking, presentation, and active listening skills.
- Proven empathy, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to connect with culturally diverse groups.
- Demonstrated experience managing the complete training cycle, including assessing needs, planning, developing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating training programmes.
- Membership with the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM) or another relevant professional body.
