TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION ENGINEER X1

Purpose of the Job

To plan and direct the operations of the water transmission and distribution facilities and its related infrastructure in the company so as to provide quality water supply services at levels agreed in the service level agreements and guarantees.

Main accountabilities

• Plans for effective and efficient operation of the water transmission and distribution facilities across the Division.
• Plans for valve maintenance programs and water networks across the division.
• In liaison with the Engineer – NRW, plans for pipe replacements in the water networks across the Division
• Ensures that water networks’ information across the Division is captured in GIS and periodically updated
• Maintains and sustains water supply hours/day in accordance with agreed SLA and SLG
• Enforces compliance to SOPs on Water Transmission and Distribution networks
• Develops the standards for water transmission and distribution networks.
• Plans cleaning/servicing of water trunk main lines by loading the line at the highest pressure to flush out any debris that may have built up.
• Facilitates replacement of old lines with new ones to improve service provision.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Grade 12 School Certificate with Five ‘O’ Levels
• Grade Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Water Engineering
• Member of the EIZ and registered with ERB
• Minimum 5 Years post qualification experience in similar role
• A good understanding of the effective management of a water distribution network
• Ability to plan for emergency responses in the management of transmission and distribution networks
• Good in GIS/ Surveying and AutoCAD
• Member of EIZ
• Ability to drive a manual motor vehicle

Experience in Months: 60

Level of Education: bachelor degree
