Our Client Kalungwishi Estates Limited, based in Kasama, is inviting suitably qualified, experienced, and self-motivated individuals to join our operations team in the following positions:

TURBINE OPERATOR

Job Purpose:

The Turbine Operator will be responsible for operating and monitoring steam turbine generators and auxiliary equipment to ensure stable power generation and efficient factory operations within the sugar processing plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor steam turbines and power generation systems.
  • Ensure turbines operate within required pressure, temperature, and load parameters.
  • Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels to detect abnormalities.
  • Conduct routine operational checks and report defects promptly.
  • Coordinate with boiler operators and maintenance personnel for efficient plant operations.
  • Maintain operational logs and production records.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting and assist during maintenance activities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing plant efficiency.
  • Participate in emergency response and shutdown procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma or Craft Certificate in Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience operating turbines or power generation equipment in an industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of steam turbine systems and power plant operations.
  • Experience in sugar manufacturing or heavy industry will be an added advantage.

Required Competencies:

  • Good analytical and technical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong safety consciousness.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and during shift schedules.
