About the Warehouse Supervisor Role
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all warehouse activities to ensure the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. The successful candidate will lead and mentor the warehouse team, develop inventory control systems to minimize variances, and optimize stock levels to ensure product availability. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies while maintaining strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities for Warehouse Supervisor Jobs in Lusaka
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all warehouse operations to align with company objectives.
- Develop and implement inventory control systems to reduce stock discrepancies and optimize inventory levels.
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse staff to foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability and safety.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and propose solutions to enhance efficiency.
- Manage warehouse budgets, including labor, equipment, and consumables, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as stock accuracy and order fulfillment rates.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards and enforce safety protocols.
- Assist in optimizing warehouse layout to maximize space utilization and improve workflow.
- Maintain accurate and timely transaction records using ERP or warehouse management systems, providing feedback for system improvements.
- Collaborate closely with procurement, logistics, workshop, and finance teams to align warehouse operations with business needs.
- Prepare and present detailed performance reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or certification in Business Administration, Stock Management, Logistics, or Supply Chain.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in warehouse operations, including at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of inventory management principles and supply chain processes.
- Proficiency with ERP or warehouse management systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and reporting tools.
- Strong understanding of logistics, procurement, and stock control procedures.
- Experience in warehouse layout optimization and equipment management.
Preferred Attributes and Certifications
- Honest, reliable, proactive, and disciplined with a strong performance-driven mindset.
- Positive attitude and exceptional work ethic.
- Valid driver’s license preferred; forklift license is an advantage.
- Certification from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or Zambia Institute of Procurement and Supply (ZIPS) is desirable.
